Anyhow, to catch you up for those who don't already know this is from my Paranormal Romance YA.
From Flint's first journal entry:
Flint’s Journal Entry #1
When a butterfly flaps its wings in one part of the world, it
can eventually cause a hurricane in another.
My mom told me that, a long time ago.
I laughed. How could a butterfly possibly do that, I asked.
She held my face and stared deep into my eyes…
“Because, Flint,” she said, “sometimes in life we do things.
Things that don’t seem to matter. But in truth, it’s just the beginning of the
ripple effect.”
Two days later, she died.
I’ll never get to tell her, I finally understand…

That is an awesome snippet, Marie! It leaves me wanting to read more. " I finally understand" Oh, the questions those three words pose! Excellent eight. ;-)
Any chance that next week, you can link back to wewriwa.com? :-)
Oops, my bad. Totally forgot! Fixed it. And thanks! :D
Echoing Teresa here, there is nothing in those sentences not to like. And I, too, want to know what seemingly insignificant thing it was that Flint did to make him finally understand the truth of those words.
Loved it!
Very emotional snippet. I like how you take a saying we've all heard and make it the heart of such a sad diary entry. It's also a great hook - what has happened to make Flint finally understand?
Yes ~ snappy writing. Good hook. Great eight!
Wonderful!
As the others have said; interested to know how Flint came to understand her mother's words. Great hook!
Wow, great journal entry to snag the readers, Marie. I'm not a YA fan, but that grabbed me immediately. Nicely done. :)
Chaos Theory. At least that's where it comes from.
I liked the "voice" of the character and the poignancy that Flint never gets to tell his mother he understands now. Excellent excerpt!
Great place to leave off; I'm wondering what exactly happened that caused him to understand her words.
That's a powerful beginning! I love it!
Amazing hook!
